Smart Sensors vs. Dumb Robots

Smart Sensors vs. Dumb Robots
Jason Seawall | Chief Executive Officer & Chief Technology Officer

While some peoples’ first impression of a Roomba vacuum cleaner might be “dumb robot”, another contrasting view would be smart vacuum cleaner.  The developers of the Roomba probably did not start out with a complex general robotic platform and dumb it down to meet this specific task, more likely they added basic robotic capabilities to a simple vacuum device. In the world of autonomous inspection, that simple device would be the sensor, or suite of sensors.  In this presentation, Jason will discuss the idea of Smart Sensors and introduce some of the tools and capabilities his company Numurus is developing to enable Smart Sensor advancements.
